Designing and optimizing the aerodynamic surfaces using Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) and performance analysis methods
After conducting thorough performance calculations and constraint analysis, our aerodynamics team has crafted the initial Outer Mold Line (OML) for Hyperion. This pivotal step enables accurate weight buildup and Center of Gravity (CG) estimation. Armed with this data, our team is set to dive into spring 2024, focusing on refining the inlet to meet our motor's requirements and fine-tuning the OML geometry. These adjustments aim to optimize our vehicle's aerodynamic characteristics during flight. Once this is complete. The team plans to use the experience gained from Hyperion to streamline our workflow and make significant progress on the development of Record Breaker before the end of the Spring semester.
